My Favorite Scatman Crothers films

Inspired by a recent viewing of the rat-attack classic DEADLY EYES, I put together a list of my favorite films from the amazing and wonderful Scatman Crothers. He, one of the great character actors of all time and of course the voice of Hong Kong Phooey himself(among other inumerable TV roles). I think I first remember hearing his wonderfully distinct voice in THE ARISTOCATS. I must have seen it in the theater in some kind of re-release. I think I had an LP of it too because between that and Hong Kong Phooey, his voice was, from then on, permanently burnt onto my mind. Scatman is one of those rare actors that always elevates anything he shows up in. His mere presence elevates. Have always been a huge Scatman fan and you know you are too! Scatman fans check out this great group of posts over at the Franklin Mint Blog that chronicle some of Scatman's Film, Television, Print, Music, Cartoon and Exploitation Film appearances.

Some of Patton Oswalt's Favorite films

I've been a fan of Patton Oswalt for quite some time. His standup is frickin hilarious if you've somehow not heard it. He's really gotten into acting a lot more in the past couple years and I always love to see him show up on a TV show or in a film. I certainly recommend everyone check out BIG FAN which made my top ten from last year(you can watch it right now btw if you are a Netflix subcriber as it's on Instant watch). His character Neil is easily one of my favorite thing about the Showtime series THE UNITED STATES OF TARA. He had one scene this season, involving the handing over of a document that had me nearly in tears. So well done. Anyway, I remember hearing him talk about his love for Anthony Mann and his film THE MAN FROM LARAMIE years ago in one of his standup bits and I knew right away he was a kindred spirited cinephile. I also recall him mentioning that he was a huge fan of THE WIRE many years ago and that gave him extra credit with me too. He even has a great list of his favorite Criterion dvds over at their site! The dude just has good taste, pure and simple. Below I've reposted the list of his favorite films from his myspace and it's a fantastic list. Many here I've not seen myself so I wanted to have the list easily accessible when I'm looking to find something new to watch. Enjoy:
